The Media + Communication program at TWU prepares you to effectively speak, write, and visually communicate in order to engage and transform our media-saturated world.

BACHELOR OF ARTS (BA) MEDIA + COMMUNICATION

As a student of Media + Communication, you will take courses that encourage critical thinking as you develop your skills in written, spoken, and visual communication. You will have the opportunity to specialize in Media Studies, Professional Writing, or Leadership Communication, with minors available in Film Studies and Professional Writing.

MEDIA + COMMUNICATION HAS THREE STREAMS OF COURSES

Specialize in one area you are passionate about, or combine courses from each.

LEADERSHIP COMMUNICATION:

Courses in this stream cover a wide range of topics, such as relational, intercultural and organizational communication.

MEDIA STUDIES:

This stream offers courses in production and criticism. Production focuses on filmmaking, with opportunities for graphic design and game-making courses. Our criticism courses will help you engage with popular culture through in-depth examinations of film, video games, social media, and more.

PROFESSIONAL WRITING:

Our writing stream prepares you to work in a wide range of writing-intensive careers, like public relations, journalism, and marketing.

Students may be eligible for three semester hours of credit for each Advanced level course completed to a maximum of 12 semester hours provided that a minimum grade of C is achieved in that course. Departments will determine if credit awarded is general or course specific. The following equivalents will be considered: School Certificate: same as GCE with at least two passes at the principal level of the Higher School Certificate. Certificate of matriculation from recognized universities. International Baccalaureate with at least two subjects at the higher level. English Language Scores: (TOEFL) - Test of English Foreign Language Internet-Based Test: Overall Score: 88 with a minimum score of 21 in each of the four areas and a TWE of at least 5. (IELTS) - International English Language Testing System (Academic): Overall score: 6.5 with 6.0 on Writing Band. (CAEL) - Canadian Academic English Language Assessment: Overall score: 70.
