Economists help society to understand why interest rates fluctuate and oil prices rise and fall. They assist society in using its economic resources wisely. Courses in the Economics Department can be divided into three categories.

Those that explain the techniques of analysis within the discipline.

Those that apply these techniques to particular sections of the economy.

Those that explain the influence of economic forces in the development of particular societies.

The honors degree program provides students with enhanced employment skills and the necessary background for successful entry into a master’s degree.

Entry requirements may vary from country to country. Students require having at least one Grade 12 English credit equivalent to Canadian high school.

English Proficiency Requirements:

  • CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language Assessment) - score of 60
  • CanTEST: Achieve a minimum score of 4.5 in Reading, 4.5 in Listening, 4.0 in Speaking, and 4.0 on Writing on the Canadian Test for English for Scholars and Trainees
  • EAP: Successful completion of Tier 4 for undergraduate students
  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System (Academic)): 6.5 overall
  • MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery): Achieve score of 80
  • TOEFL: 550 (paper-based test) with a minimum score of 50 in each testing section. 80 (Internet-based test) with a minimum score of 20 in each testing section.
  • PTEA (Pearson Test of English Academic): 58
