This program examines the scientific, cultural, economic, moral, political and social dimensions of environmental issues. You will have the opportunity to choose one of three areas of concentration: Environment and Peoples of Canada; Politics, Society, and the Global Environment; and Food and Society.
Why take the Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies degree?
This unique interdisciplinary degree allows you to study widely among courses offered by the Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences, the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Science, and the Faculty of Native Studies, providing you with an expansive framework to understand and contribute to the solution of environmental problems.
This degree prepares you for further study or specialization in a variety of fields and careers, including law, business, economics, resource management, and journalism.
Why take Environmental Studies at Augustana?
Augustana’s Environmental Studies major integrates natural sciences, social sciences, and the humanities into one unique program taken as part of a Bachelor of Arts degree.
You will choose to pursue either a General or Outdoor Education stream, granting the opportunity to take an outdoor or experiential education component, including backpacking and canoeing throughout Alberta and the Northwest Territories or studying at our Miquelon Lake Research Station. As a result, you will be equipped to forge a connection to the physical environment, the people, and organisms impacted by our society.
Augustana also offers a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences (Interdisciplinary) degree.

Students applying directly from high school.
Admission is based on complete academic history and achievement in three main areas: Grades, English proficiency, and completion of required subjects.
English language Requirement:
TOEFL: iBT: At least 90 with a minimum score of 21 points in each section
IELTS(Academic): At least 6.5 with no band less than 6.0
CanTEST(Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees): At least 4.5, with no part lower than 4
PTE(Academic): At least 61, with no less than 60 in each communicative skill
CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language assessment) Either CAEL (paper) or CAEL CE (computer): A score of at least 70, with no band less than 60
Duolingo English Test: 120 for English Language Proficiency, with no sub score below 100
