Music Therapy uses music to address physical, emotional, intellectual or learning challenges. You’ll see first-hand the impact music therapy has on developing a client's potential abilities and enhancing their quality of life.
In Laurier's Music Therapy program, you'll participate in supervised group and individual placements with a diverse set of clients, including those with learning disabilities, autism, special needs, adolescents and geriatrics.
Program Highlights
We offer the only Bachelor of Music Therapy program in Ontario.
A crucial component of our program is supervised clinical training, which is offered at our on-campus music therapy clinic – the only university-based clinic in Canada.
In fourth year, you'll begin a 1,000-hour internship (organized by Laurier), making you eligible to apply for accreditation as a music therapist through the Canadian Association for Music Therapy upon graduation.
You will use your major instrument in music therapy sessions as well as percussion, piano and guitar, which you will be taught at Laurier.
The Music Therapy Students Association (MTSA) hosts events throughout the year to support the academic, career and personal needs of our Music Therapy students. All music students can join MTSA.
