The Esthetician – Spa Management program allows students to gain skills required to build a career in the high-demand spa and wellness industry. If you love working with people and have a desire to help individuals enhance their appearance and boost their self-esteem, this program will provide you with the theoretical and practical knowledge that you need.

Applied hands-on learning is at the heart of the program, where you develop practical skills in areas such as manicure and pedicure techniques, skincare analysis, facial treatments, grooming and hair removal, body treatments and medical esthetics. You will have opportunities to hone your skills further in the fully operational Durham College Spa which provides services to the public. The Durham College Spa features modern learning facilities and equipment to provide you with real-life work experience.

The program also employs a holistic approach, teaching valuable customer service, communication, interpersonal and business skills that allow you to develop as an esthetician and prepare you for entrepreneurial ventures. A strong emphasis is placed on meeting industry professional standards, including teaching best practices and protocols in infection control.

Program Details

Our Esthetician - Spa Management program provides vocational hands-on skills plus business management training so you can be job-ready upon graduation. Hands-on courses focus on manicure and pedicure technologies, waxing, body treatments and facial techniques. You will learn advanced skincare techniques in medical esthetics, including chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and intense pulsed light technology, working with state-of-the-art equipment. Business training includes retail operations and spa management, communications, spa marketing and client-care protocols.

You will gain real-world experience during your onsite Durham College Spa work placement, where you will deliver spa services to the public while being supervised by expert faculty and the Spa Manager, as well as assist with the planning, organization and management of day-to-day retail operations and spa marketing strategies.
