Prepare for a solid career by building a foundation in both the hardware and software used in controls, signal processing, integrated circuits, communication networks, wireless communication, and computer operating systems.

What You’ll Learn

The Electrical and Computer Engineering, B.S. offers a balance of theoretical fundamentals and hands-on experiences in a small-class setting—most courses have fewer than 20 students.

One of only four accredited electrical and computer engineering programs in the State of New York, our bachelor’s program helps you learn various tools to simulate electrical/electronic circuits, program microprocessors/embedded systems/FPGAs, model and implement control/communication systems, and process data/signals/systems.

You’ll have the opportunity to work on funded research projects for the Department of Defense, National Science Foundation, among others alongside faculty at New York Tech’s Entrepreneurship and Technology Innovation Center (ETIC). Many students publish their work in recognized journals as part of the Undergraduate Research & Entrepreneurial Program (UREP).

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

In alignment with the NYIT mission and the mission of the College of Engineering and Computing Sciences, our program faculty, with input from stakeholders such as employers, alumni, and industrial advisory board members, have determined Program Educational Objectives to prepare versatile engineers who:

Are successfully employed in electrical and computer engineering technology or their chosen career path;
Pursue graduate studies and/or continued education in their field; and
Function as responsible members of society through engagement in community or professional organizations.

Student Outcomes (SOs)

To support these objectives, the curriculum has been developed to provide student outcomes describing what degree candidates are expected to know and be able to do by the time they graduate. Upon graduation, students are expected to acquire the ability to:

Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering.
Design and conduct experiments as well as analyze and interpret data.
Design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability.
Function on multidisciplinary teams.
Identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems.
Understand professional and ethical responsibility.
Communicate effectively.
Understand the larger-scale impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
Engage in and recognize the need for lifelong learning.
Understand and know about contemporary issues.
Use techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.
