The EdD programme is aimed at experienced educators and professionals in education settings who aspire to extend their expertise in a particular Specialized Area, and their professional knowledge in a broad range of educational contexts through core courses.

Language Education (Chinese)
Language Education (Chinese) is a programme area that deals with the study and research on the educational practice of Chinese teaching and the subject knowledge of Chinese Language, with the scope of Chinese Language covering both Classical and Modern Chinese. The integrated programme draws on both the theoretical and methodological achievements in the field of Chinese Language Education. With a dual focus on pedagogies and subject knowledge, the programme aims to help students master theories and methodologies that can effectively apply to the professional practice of teaching Chinese as a first language (L1) and / or a second language (L2).

Applicants should normally hold a Master’s degree in the discipline of education or a cognate field relevant to their chosen Specialized Area, plus four years’ professional experience. Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview.
Applicants are expected to demonstrate a high standard of competence in spoken and written English. Applicants with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a university where the programme was not taught and assessed in English are normally required to demonstrate competency through one of the following minimum English language requirements:
