Automotive engineering is a specialised branch of mechanical engineering, covering the areas of automotive engines, transmission, suspension, braking systems, electrical and electronics, comfort and safety, automotive workshop technology and management.
It is concerned with the design and working mechanism, development and services of automobiles. Solid foundation in algebra, geometry, trigonometry and pre-calculus, physics and chemistry are required for a student to acquire knowledge and skills effectively in his/her learning process in this programme.

This programme covers a large area of automotive systems engineering and related subjects, making use of our extensive up-to-date facilities.
Automotive engineers are able to specialize in two distinct areas. First is the manufacture of vehicles and components, and secondly the motor trade including retail, distribution and aftermarket services.
What should I expect?
Graduates are expected to attain good technical skills such as technical drawing, workshop practice, interpersonal communication besides fundamental mechanical and automotive knowledge and application.
This will equip you with the capability to work independently and assist engineers in decision making in engineering problems.
