The tourism industry offers a variety of roles including flight attending and roles with an airline or at the airport. A career as a flight attendant however, can take you all over the world. 4 week Flight Attending Practical's

Due to the limited number of spaces funded by the government, entry into this block course is by endorsement of the Campus Manager only and preference may be given to those enrolled on the two year Aviation and Tourism Management Programme. The Campus Manager will select which of the students that have applied will be confirmed in the programme around the week 10 mark of the Tourism, Airline & Flight Attending programme. Decisions will be made by looking at the criteria outlined in the student handbook for ‘all programmes’ as well as the student’s individual performance in the ‘Assessment Centre’ module of the Tourism, Airline and Flight Attending programme. Further criteria are as follows:

  • Must have successfully completed the Tourism, Airline and Flight Attending Programme Level 4
  • Must be able to gain a passport without restrictions
  • Must be 18 four weeks after upon completion of the qualification
  • Must be able to meet the security requirements for gaining an AVSEC card – this requires a police check and you may be ineligible if you have a criminal record.

Next Step

You have a choice once you graduate from this qualification to either seek employment or complete the one year Level 5 Diploma in Tourism and Travel.

All international students must:

  • be a minimum of 18 years of age at the start of all courses (as per code of practice requirements)
  • Completed 4 years of secondary school or equivalent work experience.

English Language Proficiency:

  • IELTS: Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5
  • TOEFL Paper-based Test (pBT) where the test was carried out prior to 1 October 2017: Score of 550 (with an essay score of 5 TWE)
  • TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT): Score of 46 (with a writing score of 14)
  • Cambridge English Qualifications: B2 First or B2 First for schools with a score of 162. No less than 154 in each skill
  • OET: Minimum of Grade C or 200 in all sub-tests
  • NZCEL: Level 4 (General) or (Employment)
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic): PTE (Academic) score of 42 with no band score lower than 36
  • LanguageCert: B2 Communicator IESOL (LRWS) with HIGH PASS and no less than Pass in each skill
  • Trinity ISE: ISE II with no less than merit in any band
