This full-time programme is suitable for those wanting to pursue a career in teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector; that is, teaching students age 14 years and above, and suitable for those who are not currently teaching. This is a one-year course.
PROGRAMME BENEFITS
We aim to produce teachers who are reflective, flexible and innovative, who can work as members of interdisciplinary teams and who have an interest in the academic and pastoral well-being of students.
LEARNING & TEACHING METHODS
This course is primarily designed for face-to-face learning, with attendance during lessons for the specified hours within the validation document. However, there may be periods of study where the government advises TEC Partnership that it is not safe to open campuses, or there is limited access due to social distancing measures. If the campus is closed, TEC Partnership will deliver your sessions online and offer you the necessary support and resources remotely. If there is limited access due to social distancing measures a blended model will be adopted, with some lessons taking place in small groups and others using online sessions and support.
One day per week structured seminars and lectures from your PGCE tutors and specialist guest lecturers. Lessons will also include on-line learning, work placements, peer assessment, presentations, poster presentation and a year-end conference.
You will also undertake 100 teaching hours during the duration of the course in your own classroom setting, with the support of a subject specialist Mentor.
WHAT NEXT?
This course prepares learners to study at MA level and to work in an educational setting at various levels, eg teacher, manager, director, principal.
