The History and Welsh History section provides training and a high level of support in the historical fields of early modern, modern and contemporary Wales. Our postgraduate community contributes vitally to the research culture of the School and to the University's international reputation for research.

Research

We offer a breadth of chronological, geographical and historiographic expertise, and the research interests of the staff range from the Normans to Communist art, from Fascism to early-modern crime and witchcraft, from emigration to the history of medicine, and from Wales to India and China.

History scholarship at Cardiff combines theoretical innovation and research expertise, creating distinctive strengths in a range of areas, including warfare and the Crusades, authoritarian regimes, Wales and the wider world, gender and identity, and medicine and the body.
