This major prepares students for a range of careers within the aerospace industry, including aerospace logistics, professional pilot (secondary application required), aerospace security, aviation management and technical service management.

OSU is committed to providing students with a broad scope of options and training within the aerospace industry. Students receive high-quality instruction from experienced faculty who are committed to helping them find their right fit and follow their passion. Our holistic approach allows students to balance time spent perfecting their craft while taking advantage of all OSU has to offer.

Career paths

Career options within the aerospace administration and operations industry include, but are not limited to: Airline or corporate pilot; Airline manager or operator; Aviation regulatory inspector; Federal air marshal; Corporate and/or general aviation security; Security management specialist; Flight operations director; Logistics manager.

Highlights

Professional Pilot Option

Students must complete a secondary application for admission to the professional pilot option, which is fall admission only and limited to 75 students per year. The secondary application will appear in students' admission portal status page once they have applied to the university. For Fall 2020, both the undergraduate admission application and the professional pilot secondary application must be received by November 1, 2019. Decisions will be announced by January 1, 2020.

Flying Aggies

OSU is home to the historic and nationally recognized Flying Aggies student organization. Members of the flight team have the opportunity to compete at regional and national competitions, including the National Intercollegiate Flying Association’s (NIFA) annual competition.

Throughout its 63-year history, the Flying Aggies won the prestigious Loening Award 21 times. With this legacy comes an enormous amount of pride and support of alumni. Students who join the Flying Aggies are part of a tradition and history unlike any other.

Professional partners

Internships and real-world experiences are central to the OSU aviation program. Our students enjoy unique opportunities to interact with professional partners through the OSU-Envoy Airlines pipeline program, which gives students early access to employment options while still pursuing their degree at OSU.
