The effect of fossil fuel use on our planet combined with the rise of solar, smart-grid and other sustainable technologies has made the field of energy law more complex-and more important-than ever. The unique Dual-Degree JD/Master of Energy Regulation and Law program, a partnership between the Quinnipiac School of Law and Vermont Law School, prepares you to address the many challenges facing energy regulation locally, nationally and around the world.You'll take courses from both schools that illustrate the connections of energy with law, regulation, policy, economics and science. You’ll have the opportunity to complete an externship and work directly with professionals in the field and gain insight into how energy law and policy make an impact in the real world. You’ll enter the workforce with the knowledge and legal skillset used by energy attorneys, policymakers, analysts and climate specialists for a range of diverse employers.You’ll receive your JD from Quinnipiac and your MERL from Vermont Law School in as few as 3 years, giving you the benefit of time and cost savings. While rigorous, the program emphasizes flexibility by enabling you to complete your MERL coursework online or at Vermont Law School during the summer. Moreover, you’ll have access to the same extensive career development resources enjoyed by traditional law students, including our vast network of successful alumni.
