Earn your master’s in Professional and Technical Writing and jumpstart your career as an expert technical communicator. Our curriculum is purposefully balanced to incorporate both theoretical and practical learning. Both inside and outside of the classroom, our students get involved in the vibrant Portland “Silicon Forest” community via class client projects, internships, and networking events, such as our monthly PSU Technical Communication Meetup, which provides graduate students with the chance to network with local technical writing experts.

MIX OF IN-PERSON, HYBRID, AND ONLINE COURSES FOR MAXIMUM FLEXIBILITY

To accommodate both working professionals and full-time students, most of our courses are offered during late-afternoon or evening hours, fully online, or as hybrid courses. Our small classes encourage a personalized experience.

We encourage applicants from a variety of backgrounds, including recent college graduates in the humanities, social sciences, and STEM disciplines, those embarking upon new careers, as well as students from outside of the US.

ข้อกำหนดในการสมัคร

สำหรับนักเรียนสหรัฐอเมริกา

To be admitted to PSU for a master’s program, applicants must satisfy University requirements and be accepted by the academic department in which the graduate study will occur. Admission eligibility is based on receipt of a baccalaureate degree equivalent to a United States four-year bachelor's degree from a college or university recognized as an institution of higher education by the Ministry of Education in the relevant country or be regionally accredited within the U.S. Regular Admission: To be considered for regular admission, applicants must have a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or the equivalent (on the U.S. 4.0 scale). Applicants who have earned 9 or more letter-graded graduate credits must have a minimum graduate GPA of 3.0 or the equivalent; this graduate GPA supersedes the undergraduate GPA.

สำหรับนักเรียนนานาชาติ

All applicants must hold a BA or BS degree from a regionally accredited institution (the degree may be in progress at the time of application but must be completed before admission can be finalized). We also expect an undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.25.

If the applicant's native language is not English, and the applicant has not received a baccalaureate, master's, or doctoral degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or an equivalently accredited non‐U.S. institution with instruction exclusively in English, the student must demonstrate English language proficiency. Such applicants must pass the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 600 (100 on the internet‐based test or 250 on the computer‐based test). The International English Language Testing System exam (IELTS) may be substituted for the TOEFL; the minimum acceptable score is 7.5.
