The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) is a charity and a Non Departmental Public Body (NDPB) in the UK, sponsored and supported through by the Scottish Government's Environment and Forestry Directorate. RBGE comprises nearly 250 staff drawn from a variety of disciplines. The Garden is organised into five areas, namely Science, Enterprise & Communication, Horticulture & Learning, Resources & Planning and Development. RBGE is also authorised to function as an academic institution, and is committed to lifelong learning and international capacity building. The charity provides a range of formal and informal education programmes for people of all levels and ages, from primary school to PhD, amateur or professional. RBGE’s landscaped gardens and botanical collections comprise some of the world’s best resources for learning about the natural world.
