Academic excellence
Non-Dutch nationals are eligible for a scholarship awarded by the Leiden Institute of Physics (LION) on funds made available by the Den Adel Fund for Experimental Physics and the Lorentz Fund for Theoretical Physics. About 10% of the admitted candidates are awarded a scholarship, on the basis of academic merit.
Each scholarship (€6000 per year) is awarded for one year, renewable for the second year subject to satisfactory performance (i.e., 60EC with a GPA>8 in the first year). Be advised, scholarships do not exempt from the tuition fee of Leiden University, nor from the potential ‘proof of sufficient funds’ for the student visa/residence permit application to the Dutch Immigration Office (required for non EER nationals).
