Environmental engineers protect natural ecosystems, human health, and quality of life by applying engineering principles to solve environmental and public health related challenges. By combining their knowledge of the natural sciences , chemistry, biology, and microbiology , with their expertise in engineering, environmental engineers tackle many complex problems society faces. As an environmental engineer, you might be involved in performing an environmental impact assessment, or in designing or managing systems for water distribution and collection, water treatment plants, solid waste handling and processing facilities, landfills, and air treatment plants.This degree can be taken as a Co-op (co-operative education) program. Through the Co-op program, you will have the opportunity to complete paid, supervised work terms throughout your degree.
