This unique programme brings together cross-disciplinary expertise and knowledge in creative thinking, business, art, heritage, media and journalism, allowing you to develop your knowledge and skills for leading the cultural and creative institutions of the future, with on-campus delivery that makes excellent use of the Midlands as a cultural region and its established relationships with organisations in cultural heritage, festivals and advertising, while also providing the opportunity to work collaboratively with a creative sector partner on your final project to increase your understanding of organisational operations and challenges and enhance employability skills, and offering a foundation for deeper academic engagement with creative and cultural industries that could lead to MPhil or PhD study, supported by an approachable team committed to regular one-to-one tutorial support relating to research supervision, academic performance or professional aspirations, a focus on the evolving process and contexts of creative and cultural industries to ensure up-to-date understanding of media and audiences, teaching in purpose-built journalism facilities including radio studios, a TV studio, video editing suites, Mac suites and a newsroom with the latest software, and exposure to industry guest engagement to ground your learning in current media practice.
Applicants are normally required to hold a 2:1 undergraduate degree or possess relevant professional experience, and a strong interest in the creative arts is recommended. Those with a 2:2 undergraduate degree may also be considered if they have relevant professional experience, particularly if they are seeking to transition into the creative and cultural sectors, pursue career advancement, or change careers through the development of specialised additional skills.
