The University of Greater Manchester’s MRes Investigation of Death is a unique, research-intensive programme focused on the interdisciplinary study of how deaths are investigated, understood, recorded, reviewed and learned from.
The programme is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge required to conduct advanced research into death investigation across coronial, legal, medical, forensic, policing, regulatory, public-health and policy contexts. It examines death investigation as a multi-agency public function, bringing together law, medicine, forensic practice, policing, public administration, ethics, policy and research.

An honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject, with a minimum classification of 2.1 (or equivalent).
A research proposal of approximately 1,000 words (±10%), outlining the research problem, aims, and significance, and demonstrating the need for the study and the gap it intends to address.
Successful completion of an academic interview, during which you will be required to discuss and justify your research proposal and demonstrate your suitability for a research programme.
