In the field of mechanical engineering, areas of research include aerodynamics, alternative energy technologies such as solar cells, applied heat and mass transfer, conservation and renewable energy (CARE), combustion and fuels, and computational engineering, including computer-aided design (CAD), finite element analysis (FEA), and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Additional research strengths include dynamics and control, noise vibration harshness, engine and supercharger technologies, industrial and vehicle systems, sports engineering, vehicle design and crashworthiness, as well as virtual engineering and design.In manufacturing engineering, research areas span additive manufacturing, computer-integrated manufacturing, design for manufacturing, forming and machining technology, high-speed automation, operations, polymeric and composite product development, quality management in manufacturing, and advanced technologies such as robotics and laser systems.
