Diabetes Specialist Nurses are crucial in providing good patient care and promoting self-care management in a variety of care settings. This course provides a systematic introduction to the fundamentals of diabetes nursing, equipping students with the information and skills necessary to pursue a career as a Diabetes nurse in a variety of healthcare settings. Students will examine the origins, risk factors, pathophysiology, symptoms, therapies, interprofessional care, psychosocial support, and nursing care of individuals with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, as well as their relatives and caregivers. A fundamental aspect of this course is the focus on a person-centered approach to diabetic nursing, which will ensure the care of persons with diabetes (from children to older adults) in acute, chronic, aged care, disability, and rehabilitation healthcare settings.
To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Advanced Nursing an applicant is required to: Have completed a Bachelor of Nursing degree or an equivalent qualification or 3 years Diploma of Nursing leading to Registered Nurses in home country having one year of work experience. Be an AHPRA registered nurse; or Be a registered nurse with the Nurses Board/Council from the country of origin or place of residence
