Nurses spend the greatest period of time with patients at the end of their lives and are uniquely placed to shape and improve the delivery of palliative care services in countries around the world. This course provides a systematic introduction to palliative care nursing concepts, emphasising the information and skills necessary to perform as a palliative care nurse in an average life health care context. A distinguishing feature of this course is its emphasis on a person-centred approach to palliative care nursing, which will ensure the assurance and safety of caring for people with end-of-life conditions in acute care units, palliative care units, specialist haematology and oncology units, as well as aged care and community settings.
To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Advanced Nursing an applicant is required to: Have completed a Bachelor of Nursing degree or an equivalent qualification or 3 years Diploma of Nursing leading to Registered Nurses in home country having one year of work experience. Be an AHPRA registered nurse; or Be a registered nurse with the Nurses Board/Council from the country of origin or place of residence
