The French Language and Literature Program at King’s is designed to foster an appreciation of the various literatures and cultures of la Francophonie as well as to develop a variety of skills that will serve you well in the future. We offer a range of language and literature courses to help you hone your language, communication, and research skills. Being able to speak French will open up career opportunities in teaching, business, government agencies as well as in many other sectors.The Department offers our students the opportunity to spend the third year of their French program at the Universite Catholique de Lille. Studying abroad can be a life-changing experience, a chance to see the world, to make new friends, and to learn to appreciate cultural differences.

Completion of first-year requirements with no failures. Students must have an average of at least 70% in 3.0 principal courses, including French 1900E or French 1910 or French 1999 plus 2.0 additional courses, with no mark in these principal courses below 60%.Students admitted to King's University College must be proficient in written and spoken English. If English is not your first language, you must provide proof of your proficiency in listening, speaking, writing and reading English. Typically, this is done through an official test or ESL program.
