The Department aims to provide students with a thorough and comprehensive knowledge of spoken and written French, as well as French and Francophone literatures and cultures. In addition to the courses taught in French, the Department offers a series of courses taught in English (designated MLLC) that may be acceptable for credit toward a degree in French Studies.We offer courses in French language, translation and linguistics, as well as courses on literature from French-speaking countries around the world.Culture and civilization courses highlight the painting, architecture, music and historical events that appeared along with literary texts throughout the centuries in France.
