The Thanatology department offers a wide variety of courses, including an overview of bereavement and grief, ethical issues, palliative care, suicide, children and death, spiritual and philosophical issues, change and transition, popular culture, grief and trauma, and diversity and social justice. The undergraduate program offers a practicum course that includes a 45-hour field placement, and a grief counselling course that uses experiential learning of basic counselling skills.King's University College has had a Death Education program since 1976. More than 4,000 students have taken our university courses in death and bereavement.The certificate program in Grief and Bereavement Studies was started in 1994, in cooperation with the University of Western Ontario's Centre for Continuing Studies, and most of the courses are now available by distance (e-mail) education. There are fewer than 10 such programs in North America.

Completion of first-year requirements with no failures. Students must have a minimum 70% average in 3.0 principal first year courses including Thanatology 1025A/B, with no grade below 60% in these principal courses..Students admitted to King's University College must be proficient in written and spoken English. If English is not your first language, you must provide proof of your proficiency in listening, speaking, writing and reading English. Typically, this is done through an official test or ESL program.
