The major focuses on environmental interactions and problem solving by developing an integrated biophysical environment - human environment perspective. In ERM, students will gain knowledge across the natural sciences, an understanding of how they interact, the skills tools and techniques needed to support decision making, as well as the methods of management and governance that are critical for environmental decision making. Beginning in first year students learn in the classroom and through hands-on work in labs and in the field. Students are expected to design and conduct experiments and problem solve using state-of-the-art computing and analytical tools. This major provides the knowledge, skills and methods an environmental scientist requires as environmental consultant, environmental manager, environmental andor resource planner, geographic information systems analyst or to facilitate future graduate work.

The secondary school graduation certificate which would admit a student to an internationally recognized university in their home country is normally acceptable for admission to the University of Guelph.Students presenting predicted, interim or midterm grade 12/senior level results may be considered for a conditional offer of admission if all prerequisite courses are completed or in progress and meeting the minimum grade requirements. International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma with 6 subjects: 3 Higher Level and 3 Standard Level with a minimum score of 28. Bonus marks from TOK and EE will be taken into consideration. Prerequisites for the major must be taken at the IB DP2 level.Note: For programs with Advanced Math, students must present one of: SL/HL Analysis & Approaches, or HL Applications & Interpretations. Math Studies/Standard Level Applications and Interpretations are not an acceptable prerequisite for programs that require Advanced Math or Calculus.
