Learn the Skills You Need

MacEwan University's BScN is a rigorous, four-year, 132-credit degree program. Knowledge, concepts and theories are integrated from the discipline of nursing, the liberal arts and sciences. The curriculum is uniquely sequenced to promote integration and application of knowledge and diverse skills, such as relational and ethical practice, critical thinking and clinical judgement, risk assessment, health promotion and injury prevention, writing, and health assessment. Knowledge, skills and attributes are integrated within classroom, laboratory and practice settings.

Careers

Registered Nurses (RNs) practice within complex, unpredictable and dynamic settings to promote health and healing with individuals, families and communities. The profession of registered nursing offers a highly challenging and deeply rewarding career for dedicated individuals. The College & Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) has created a document to outline Requisite Skills and Abilities for Becoming a Registered Nurse in Alberta for those interested in a career in this field.

The focus of the MacEwan baccalaureate nursing program is to prepare graduates for initial entry into direct practice. Foundational knowledge and skills are integrated for registered nursing within administration, education and research.

The MacEwan BScN program is recognized by several Canadian Universities to prepare graduates with the required knowledge and academic skills for further education. Entry into graduate studies is dependent upon the individual program criteria, including Grade Point Average (GPA).
