The department is known for its small class sizes, supportive atmosphere and accessibility of faculty.At the same time, the faculty are engaged in vigorous research programs.The department sponsors numerous colloquia, and supports several visiting scholars.State-of-the-art computing facilities are also available for the use of our students which have access to the high performance computing facility of SHARCNET area network.The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers excellent undergraduate and graduate programs in a supportive environment. Graduates of recognized universities may apply for admission. In general, admission to graduate study is granted only to those students who have good academic records and who are adequately prepared to undertake graduate work in their field of specialization. In particular, an applicant for admission to a graduate program leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy must have either a Master's degree or, in exceptional cases, a four-year Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent; with a minimum average of 77% (or equivalent).
