Architectural Environment Engineering - BEng (Hons)

University of Nottingham

Study our BEng Architectural Environment Engineering course and start your journey in sustainable design. With buildings responsible for up to 40% of global energy demand, your expertise will help create smart, eco-friendly structures that positively impact both people and the planet. Unique to the University of Nottingham, our course centres on using engineering principles to create places which minimise energy use in a changing climate.Fully accredited by the [Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE)](https://www.cibse.org/) ([https://www.cibse.org](https://www.cibse.org/)) this course delivers strong graduate outcomes.Studying Architectural Environment Engineering gives you the skills and knowledge to directly reduce the carbon footprint of the built environment. You will develop the expertise to shape the design of smart and sustainable buildings. You'll learn about renewable energy generation, smart controls, thermal comfort (heating, cooling and ventilation), the acoustics of spaces and lighting design. Our dedicated facilities include fluid and thermodynamics labs, renewable energy research workshops and collaborative engineering studios that mirror professional practice and promote peer learning. You’ll also have access to the [Creative Energy Homes](https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/creative-energy-homes/) ([https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/creative-energy-homes](https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/creative-energy-homes/)), a real-world laboratory for testing energy efficient building technologies. This course also prepares you for Chartered Engineer status once you complete the necessary training and experience.* View the [MEng Architectural Environment Engineering course](https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/ugstudy/course/Architectural-Environment-Engineering-MEng) () and other related courses* [Explore the journeys of our engineering alumni](https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/engineering/departments/abe/alumni/architecture-and-built-environment-engineering-alumni.aspx "Engingeering alumni profiles") ()**Why choose this course?****Course highlights*** Accredited by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE).* Dedicated careers and placement support within the Faculty of Engineering and outstanding career prospects.
