This degree programme studies cinema and television as major forces of enjoyment and knowledge within modern culture. Spanish is the second most widely spoken language in the world and is an official language in more than 20 countries. **Why study this course at the University of Glasgow?** The lecturers in Film & Television Studies at Glasgow are leading researchers in their field, and they bring this expertise into their teaching. We have strong connections with Glasgow’s creative and cultural organisations, representatives of which contribute to our programme (eg talks from policymakers and screen practitioners on our core course Media & Cultural Policy). Staff in Glasgow cover a wide range of topics and you will have the opportunity to work with native speakers from different parts of the Spanish-speaking world. If you progress to Honours you will spend year 3 abroad, usually as a language assistant in Spain or Latin America, on a placement arranged through the British Council, or as a student at a university in a Spanish-speaking country, which can include Latin America. **Career Prospects?** This programme is a valuable preparation for careers in various aspects of the media, arts and cultural industries as well as for non-media-related careers (eg teaching, public relations). Immediate job destinations for recent graduates include production coordinator for BBC Studios, PR assistant for a creative communications agency and diversity standards’ analyst for the British Film Institute. Older graduates have gone on to establish successful careers as TV producers, arts administrators, educators and leaders within non-profit organisations. Graduates with qualifications in modern languages and cultures have gone on to pursue rewarding careers in the media, teaching, journalism, tourism, translating and interpreting, and the Civil Service, as well as business, commerce and marketing.
