Organizations rely on accountants to inform financial decisions ranging from overall budget to tax savings. Governors State’s Bachelor of Science in Accounting will prepare you with the knowledge and skills to enter the accounting profession in the public, private, and government sectors. In your core business courses, you will also learn how increasingly globalized markets affect financial and tax scenarios.
To earn your CPA certificate in the State of Illinois, you will need 150 college credit hours. Earn both your needed credits and a graduate degree through GSU’s coordinated 150-hour B.S. and M.S. in Accounting.
Reach your career goals
Graduates of GSU’s Accounting program have entered positions both in local firms and Big Four firms, such as Deloitte and Touche. Many students receive real-world preparation through internship placements—in 2018, five out of 25 Mary T. Washington Wylie Internship Preparation Program recipients were GSU accounting students.
Strong economic conditions create high demand for accountants, which the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects to grow by 10% over the next decade.

Applicants must:
have earned an Official high school diploma (or equivalent) or GED
Must have a minimum of 2.0 unweighted high school GPA on a 4.0 scale
Earned fewer than 24 semester hours of college credit to start GSU as a freshman
International students should have TOEFL score 500 on paper based with 53 on reading, 54 on writing, 53 on Listening, 173 on computer based with 20 on reading, 21 on writing, 19 on Listening and IBT score of 68 with 19 on reading, 16 on writing, 18 on Listening and 15 on speaking.
