Paraeducators are a valuable asset for teachers in providing support and assistance in instruction and other direct services to students, and in helping to ensure a positive, safe, and supportive learning community. Based on the Washington State Paraeducator standards, the program provides students with the training needed to work as effective members of instructional teams. Core competencies covered in this program prepare paraeducators to effectively support and extend instruction and services, thereby increasing student learning. These core competencies revolve around the areas of instructional strategies, behavior management, and human growth and development. The coursework is offered partially online, as well as in the classroom, drawing on the expertise of local professionals and schools.

Admission to the college is open to anyone who has completed High School and 9th grade transcript

English Proficiency Requirements:

TOEFL iBT 61 or higher on the international TOEFL or the iBT Special Home Edition while TOEFL testing centers are closed during the COVID-19 pandemic

IELTS 5.5 no band lower than 5.0

Official ACT score of 14 in ELA (English Language Arts) with completed writing section

Official SAT Score of not lower than English Language Arts 410 and Math 430

Cambridge General Certificate of Education (GCE) O level with C in English as First Language, or B in English as Second Language

Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) of no lower than 46

STEP/EIKEN score of Grade Pre-1 or better

Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) English as First Language score of C or higher; or English as Second Language score of B

Duolingo score of no lower than 95

English Language Level Test, ELLT overall score of 4 (B2) with no band lower than 3 (B1+).
