BA in Studio Art

The BA in Art, Studio Art concentration is designed for students with a strong professional interest in art who may wish to pursue graduate studies. Courses in studio art areas offer beginning, intermediate and advanced levels, providing technical knowledge along with conceptual rigor and creative problem-solving skills. The program provides a wide variety of courses, which have flexibility in course selection to meet students' artistic and professional interests and goals. We also welcome non-majors to take our studio art courses, and many of our students who take electives with us often switch majors to studio art or add it as a minor. All art majors students must start in the BA in Art degree program in the third year (or first semester for transfer students), students can apply for acceptance into the BFA in Art, Studio Art degree program. This is typically a 5- year degree and is the considered the more professional degree for the field, directed at students who want to further develop a studio practice, and culminates in an art exhibition.
