Comprised of guided and free electives, the interdisciplinary studies program offers the greatest breadth of academic selections in the College. By taking courses throughout the arts, humanities, science, math, and social sciences, you will gain exposure to a wide range of subjects, discovering powerful connections among fields like politics, literature, technology, sociology, and history. Exposure to multiple areas of study will provide you with a broad knowledge base and enhance your critical reading, writing, and thinking skills. If you wish to personalize the major further, you have the option of proposing and applying for an individually designed program of study. The individually designed interdisciplinary studies major gives you an opportunity to pursue your interests not available as a specific major at Endicott. Offering flexibility, independence, and academic rigor, this option provides qualified students with the opportunity to draw on the resources of the entire Endicott curriculum, across majors and disciplines, to achieve their academic goals. Examples of recent individually designed majors include cognitive studies, performing arts, community development in a global context, and social action advocacy. If interested in designing your own major, you will consult with the chair of humanities, who will guide you and suggest that you seek advice from other professors in formulating the curriculum. A formal proposal is then drafted, and an appropriate faculty member will be assigned to guide you through the program.
