At the academic heart of ASU, this program is part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the university’s largest and most diverse college. Its world-renowned faculty include 15 National Academy of Sciences members, 3 Pulitzer Prize winners and 2 Noble Prize winners. The Bachelor of Science program in family and human development focuses on helping children and families thrive in the modern world by encouraging healthy relationships and tackling contemporary societal issues. Students study the stages of human development throughout the life span and gain a deep understanding of the complex dynamics of human relationships in families, workplaces and communities. They also become proficient in written communication, research methodology and data analysis. Elective courses provide a specialized skill set in areas such as infancy, adolescence and aging. Students may also participate in learning experiences outside the classroom, such as working in the Child Development Lab, working as a research assistant and completing an internship.
