LVN/LPN and Military students will be considered for advanced placement based on prior learning and experience. Students' cognitive and psychomotor skills will be assessed and based on their knowledge and experience or prior/current education, will be given credit for prior learning as appropriate. The following policy is a way to recognize our veterans for their contributions.

Students choosing this option are Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN’s) or Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN’s). These students would be eligible to enter the third semester of the Associate in Science in Nursing program after completing the recommended Role Transition courses and receive credit for prior learning through currency, challenge by exam, or completed remedial activities. Students can opt to meet all of the requirements for the Associate in Science in Nursing degree (degree candidate) or to satisfy the course requirements for only those courses that are required by the California State Board of Registered Nursing as the content required for RN licensure (nondegree candidate). Students can apply for advanced placement if he/she has completed courses at another college. Advanced Placement Policy and Procedure can be found on the Nursing website.
